Zonta Metro Pasig Launches 4K Program: Karapatan at Katarungan ng Kababaihan at Kabataan

Zonta Club of  Metro Pasig launched  on February 6, 2013 at the Valle Verde Country Club, Pasig City,  its  gender justice program  called “4 K: Karapatan at Katarungan ng Kababaihan at Kabataan” (Rights of and Justice for Women and their Children) .  Gracing the launching are Zonta Officials lead by Past President ZI , Olivia "Livie" A. Perry,  Baby S. Perez, District 17 Treasurer, Dr. Marilyn C. Alentajan, District 17 Advocacy Committee, Chair.

The program is a strategic intervention   focused on providing a level of awareness and capacity building development  on Anti-VAWC Act of 2004 to empower local communities, leaders and barangay officials , who will benefit from the training and   gain knowledge from,   to  correctly dispense just , fair  actions especially to the highly vulnerable and disadvantaged . This means that duty bearers are trained to ensure that every effort is made, without fear, , or prejudice, to respect and protect the rights of women and children in accordance with the ANTi VAWC of 2004. The programme addresses the increasing rise in violence and the program intends to meet this head by  preparing  through capacity building and strengthening program.


The 4K is an  important tool to get those in the barangay level,  to  take a  more active role  in protecting  women and children  from violence . The said  endeavour requires competence and  a solid knowledge  to implement  ANTI-VAWC ACT of 2004.

The program calls for  partners   institutions commitment to ensure that  target participants or those who are tasked to implement RA 9262  undergo the capacity building and strengthening  program.

The rising figures of women victims of violence make it resoundingly clear that there is much to be done for the   women and children.


The highlight of the  event is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)  by  three organizations who were   gathered to seal their commitment and  cooperation  to launch ZONTA METRO PASIG  4K advocacy flagship program.

The MOU  represents yet another milestone for ZONTA METRO PASIG  in its ongoing quest to advance the status of women as it elevates our ANTI-VAWC  cooperation efforts  to a new level with reputable institutions . The  MOU further  supports greater information-sharing as results will be properly monitored and documented. 
 

To this end ZONTA METROPASIG in partnership with POWER  FOUNDATION INC., in  BEHALF OF THE PASIG CITY GOVERNMENT, on local LEVEL AND PCW ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL. The 3 organizations  will be assisting government to mainstream  protection of women and children through ANTIVAWC  CAPACITY BUILDING AND STRENGTHENING PROGRAM.This collaboration is made meaningful as all of the organizations share a mutual objective:


The Philippine Commission on Women is the lead government advocate of    gender equality and women empowerment;

 

POWER FOUNDATION Inc. _ is an organization that provides and supports programs of the city government for women who are victims of violence;

 

ZONTA is an international organization that advocates advancing the status of women worldwide.


The strategic collaboration with the said  institutions  also opens  for the Club, a unique opportunity  and new possibilities of linkages  available  such as the Bahay Kalinga ng Pasiguena or (BKP),  a joint project of the  Office of the City Mayor PASIG CITY Gender and Development (GAD) OFFICE and POWER FOUNDATION, INC.


This signing ceremony is the key and first  step in a larger process to implement our 4K Program. The initial phase of the 4K will begin in March, 2013,  to coincide with the Women’s month.
